The nights are drawing in and getting out of bed on these colder mornings is becoming that little bit harder. We love the change in seasons though, so follow our guide to avoid the winter months slowing you down.

  1. Nourishment – this time of year seems to be prime time for the spread of coughs and colds, that’s the last thing you want as you battle the cooler weather and rainy mornings. You can really help protect your body by topping up on the good stuff. Eating fresh, seasonal and colourful veg will help you stay on top form. Try and include a mixture of different colours and types of vegetables to make sure you are getting a wide range of nutrients.
  2. Embrace the elements – yes it might be the last thing you want to do after a long week at work, but use the weekend to get out in the fresh air and blow away the cobwebs! Wrap up in your favourite knits and a woolly hat then head out doors for a brisk walk; getting the heart rate up and enjoying some fresh air will not only bring on physical benefits, but mental ones too. Exercise is proven to help keep the immune system strong and the mind at ease.
  3. Increase sleep & reduce stress – When the body is tired, it is more prone to illness. When the body is under stress, it is more prone to illness. Take time to get the rest you need and reduce cortisol levels in your body by including something like yoga in your routine rather than another intense workout. Or, just getting an extra hour of sleep each night will allow your body time to recover to avoid becoming run down.
